While many updates for Windows 10 they cause our equipment to work even worse, yes there are also others that we must install in any case since they solve some error that could even make us lose control of our own computer.
And is that if you have not updated Windows 10 to the latest version, some cybercriminal could cause you the blue screen of death simply when you try to open a non-existent folder.
As reported from Bleeping Computer, the latest cumulative update for Windows 10, released last Tuesday, includes the solution to this error, a bug that is under the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) label: CVE-2021-24098.
It is a fairly important failure, but luckily it requires the interaction of the user himself to trigger it, so if you make proper use of the computer you should not fall into this failure.
For the attack to occur, it would have to be a web-based attack scenario that could cause a site to be used to deliver a file path that exploits this flaw, so you just need to have a way to convince someone to open said web. Unfortunately phishing is quite advanced today, and has shown that it can cause many people to open links or web pages that they should never visit.
To update to the latest version of Windows 10 it is as simple as pressing the start button located in the lower left part of the interface, and clicking on the gear wheel to enter settings. Now simply select update and security, click on Windows Update in the left menu, and then hit check for updates if you don’t see any available. If you have them paused make sure to hit the button to resume them.
