Star’s arrival at Disney + brings 800 films and the promise of 50 European original productions until 2024
In what the company has defined as the largest catalog deployment of a streaming platform ever seen in Spain, Disney + has made muscle with the figures of its impressive catalog, which will be increased on the 23rd with 800 more titles, all series and movies. Some of them will be new, the vast majority coming, as we know, from the catalog of 20th Century Studios (formerly Fox), the FX network, Searchlight Pictures or the FX network.
Until now, Disney + added around 600 films and 400 series in its already very extensive catalog of films that it divided into trunks such as Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. Now the number will also increase with European material: Disney has announced 10 original productions to be developed in France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. A local complement to the remarkable numbers of future franchise releases that Disney had already announced for the next few years: 10 Star Wars series, 10 Marvel series, 15 Disney and Pixar live action series, and 15 Disney and Pixar feature films.
In France four productions will be developed among which ‘Parallels’ stands out, with teenagers tumbling between multiverses. Italy has confirmed three Star Originals, including ‘The Good Mothers’, which tells the true story of three women who grew up in one of the clans of the Italian mafia. In Germany there will be two Originals, one of them ‘Sam- A Saxon’ which deals with the true story of Samuel Meffire, the first black policeman in East Germany. The Netherlands, meanwhile, has a documentary about the football player Feyenoord Rotterdam.
This is the complete plan, to which the already announced and spanish ‘Besos al aire’, with Paco León and Leonor Watling, in co-production with Mediaset:
- FRANCE: ‘Weekend Family’ (Disney+), ‘Oussekine’ (Star), ‘Parallels’ (Disney+) y ‘Soprano’ (Star Original)
- ITALY: ‘The Good Mothers’ (Star Original), ‘Boris’ (Star Original) y ‘The Ignorant Angels’ (Star Original)
