The first block of wooden flats in Spain will be in Barcelona: easier to build and much warmer
The first promotion of homes made exclusively of certified wood and sustainable materials will be at l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, in Barcelona. Those responsible, the real estate Renta Corporación and the construction company 011h have announced its creation, “the first construction of these characteristics in all of Spain”, as they explain.
The building will have eight homes, distributed over three floors and with an approximate size of 60 meters each floor. All construction will be made of wood and sustainable materials, which, as they point out, will help reduce CO2 emissions by 80%.
The warmth of wood helps reduce energy dependence
The building is designed under the criteria of “passive construction”, something that will allow “require virtually no heating or cooling energy“, according to the construction company.
The project will install solar panels in the upper area and it is expected that some parts, such as the bathrooms and the installation panels, will be completely finished in the factory. Something that will help reduce construction time by 40%.
At the moment, demolition works for this promotion have already started. As of June, the assembly of the precast elements is planned. Will not be until the last quarter of the year when this new building would be completed, according to the plans of the construction company.
011h is a builder of recent creation, promoted by the founders of Privalia: Lucas Carné and José Manuel Villanueva. The company has three ongoing projects and late december, received an additional round of financing for a total of 10 million euros.
According Explain the company, wooden buildings are not only greener, they are also up to 50% cheaper to manufacture compared to traditional buildings.
Along with this new block of flats, the construction of the building is also planned in Barcelona WittyWood, an office project that will have a total area of 4,100 square meters and will also be built in wood.
We are facing a material that is gradually being seriously considered for construction. In Spain at the moment it had only been used for small buildings or local projects, but this promotion of l’Hospitalet may be the beginning of a new style of building.
