The Perseverance parachute hid a coded message that the Internet has discovered
Following a launch or space event today has nothing to do with a few years ago, both due to the diffusion and the cameras themselves of the probes and vehicles: just yesterday we watched the video of the Perseverance landing and only with that some of us already had enough to hallucinate. But in a hive mind like that of our species there is always some perspective that can surprise us, like that of people who unveiled a coded message on Perseverance’s parachute.
One of them was Abela Paf, a computer science student who, pending the landing of the NASA rover on Mars, saw that the parachute seemed to draw a certain pattern and not a merely decorative one. Having knowledge of various programming languages, he gave along with other curious with the key to find out: Python.
Four irregular stripes that were too suspicious
The spectators’ suspicions began when the parachute was deployed: as we say, you don’t see a usual pattern of stripes, squares, symmetrical stripes or any other simple drawing. Is Uan irregular and asymmetrical pattern that certainly does not seem casual speaking of NASA.
Some space agency engineers started an AMA and Reddit (Ask Me Anything), and that’s where users already asked if there was something hidden in the parachute. It was Adam Nelessen, a camera engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, who responded only once to comment that precisely “JPL” was not the answer.
Two hours after that “no clue”, someone revealed the mystery: “DARE MIGHTY THINGS”. And it was linked to the discovery that we mentioned earlier by Abela Paf, Adithya Bajali posted the explanation on Twitter:

To Bajali he also answered Allen Chen, engineer also from JPL that we have seen in some of the videos of the Perseverance mission explaining descent parameters among other data. Although it did not tell him the solution either, it indicated that I almost had it in the process of deciphering it to finally have found it.
And Reddit strikes again, the outer ring is the JPL coordinates

What about “Dare Mighty Things”? Is the motto of JPL, seeing it for example already with the rover Curiosity. It is something recurrent that they state in many publications and that we also saw for Perseverance:

It would be something like “dare to be powerful”, something that alludes to the ambition of the US space agency and this laboratory, the protagonist of many missions, vehicles and technologies that we usually echo. In this case, the hidden “Dare Mighty Things” apparently It also serves as a reference for parachute deployment and a reference for timing. But be that as it may, the truth is that it is one of those “freaks” that many followers of space missions love.
