Messages that self-destruct in all chats
If you have been using Telegram for a long time and know about secret chats, surely on some occasion you have used the self-destructing messages function, a feature that allows you to set a timer so that the content disappears once the limit indicated by the user has been exceeded.
Now self-destructing messages reach all chats, so you can now use them in normal individual and group conversations, outside of secret chats. Activating the timer that destroys a message is very simple, take note of how to do it on iOS and Android:
- iOS: Touch and hold a message, touch Select> Empty chat> Turn on self-delete, and select the desired time. The time interval can be one day or one week.
- Android: Click on the three dots icon, tap Empty chat, and then enter the desired duration.
Invitation links expiring
The invitation links that expire are another of the news that reaches Telegram. From now on, the administrators of the groups and channels will be able to create additional links independent of the main link that have a limited duration, a number of uses or both alternatives.
What’s more, any invitation link can be turned into a QR code to facilitate its use and distribution on all types of media. To manage invitation links, click on the group or channel profile, tap Edit> Invitation links, and tap the three dots icon to turn a link into a QR code.
Telegram widgets on the home screen
The new update brings Telegram widgets to your mobile home screen. There are two: the chat widget which allows you to preview your most recent conversations, and the shortcut widget that shows you the names and profile photos of these chats.
To add one of the widgets on your mobile, press and hold your home screen. On Android tap the Widgets button and on iOS tap the + button, and then search for Telegram.
