Elon Musk seeks to change the name of a Texas city to Starbase
Elon Musk, founder and director of the American company SpaceX, which is dedicated to aerospace manufacturing, revealed this Tuesday through his Twitter account his intentions to rename Boca Chica Village, the city where his company’s facilities are located.
Of course, renaming a city is not an easy task and might just be a wish, so the following trill was more poetic: “From there to Mars, and from there to the stars,” he wrote.
Before the surprise announcement of the tycoon, the authorities of the county did not take in pronouncing itself. Eddie Treviño Jr, Cameron County Judge, issued a written statement where he assures that a representative of Musk’s company officially approached to make the name change that the billionaire announced on his social networks. Likewise, the judge warned that to advance with said process, Musk must follow each and every legal step “in accordance with applicable law” of the state.
Despite confirming that Musk’s intentions are already on wheels, the judge assured that “sending a tweet does not mean they are going to do it.” In addition, he emphasized the number of legal obstacles that must be overcome before being able to ‘rename’ a city. “I think they are getting a little ahead of themselves,” Judge Treviño sentenced those who take it for granted that the tycoon will successfully carry out his intentions.

According to the law of the state of Texas, in addition to proceeding with the procedures before Cameron County, this process must include the public services of the city, which does not have a public water system … it is not just thinking about the name of the place .
After this announcement, the tycoon would be reaffirming his power in the area, because in addition to the facilities of the company that one day intends to transport people to the Moon and Mars, Tesla Inc., a company that he also owns, would be building a huge plant for the manufacture of his next electric truck. Boca Chica Village is a city that is located along the Gulf of Mexico, near the southern border. It was founded in the 1960s and has been transformed as companies occupied part of the village, as is the case with the company of magnate Elon Musk. In 2014 the village was chosen to build a control facility for the SpaceX South Texas launch, where the company builds and tests its Starship rockets. Even a few weeks ago the new prototype rocket for Space X, a ship that the company plans to take to Mars, it crashed and exploded at the end of a test flight that was taking place precisely in the city of Boca Chica. The ship managed to take off, ascended about 10 kilometers but when it touched down it exploded, creating a great ball of fire. (In other news: What is ‘Live Rooms’, the new Instagram function?)
However, the engineers in charge of manufacturing the ship were optimistic about the progress and findings they had from the test. “We got a lot of good data, and the main objective, demonstrating the control of the vehicle in the subsonic reentry, it seemed to be very good, and we will get a lot out of that, “said John Insprucker, SpaceX specialist, during the live broadcast of the event.
