OnePlus 9 Pro will have a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera capable of taking photos like these
OnePlus continues to heat engines for the presentation of the OnePlus 9 series. Now, the brand has confirmed that the OnePlus 9 Pro will have a 50 Mpx ultra-wide-angle camera capable of taking photos like the ones you can see a little below.
Last Monday, OnePlus announced the presentation date of the OnePlus 9 series, which will be produced on March 23. Thanks to the partnership with Hasselblad, the photographic equipment will be one of the great attractions of the new family of mobiles. The Swedish manufacturer is famous for the photographs of the arrival of man on the Moon, which NASA astronauts took with a Hasselblad camera, so there is a lot of anticipation to discover what the OnePlus 9 series will offer on a photographic level.
Since the presentation date was announced, OnePlus began to warm up engines by offering us some previews of its new flagship. After showing what the rear camera setup looks like in a teaser video Y confirm that the Sony IMX789 sensor will be released, custom-designed for the cameras of the OnePlus 9, the brand continues to offer us more information about the photographic equipment of the series.
On this occasion, the Asian manufacturer has confirmed that at least The OnePlus 9 Pro, the most advanced model in the family, will be equipped with the Sony IMX766 ultra-wide-angle sensor. Thanks to it, you will be able to capture wide landscape photos without the distortion that we do find in the snapshots of other ultra-wide-angle sensors.
The ultra-wide camera will have a resolution of 50MP, and OnePlus explains that lens shape reduces distortion from 20% to just 1%. To prove that this statement is true, Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, has shared on your Twitter account two photographs of the same building, as you can see below:
Ultra-wide photography literally broadens your horizons. Shouldn’t it also keep them true? On the left, a shot taken with a conventional ultra-wide. On the right, the same (and yet totally different) photo taken with the #OnePlus9Series, free of distortion. pic.twitter.com/jbtWae2faP

Lau explains that the first photograph was taken with an iPhone and the second with the OnePlus 9 Pro. As you can see, the conventional wide angle distorts the image, curving the silhouette of the building, something that does not happen with the OnePlus 9 Pro.
According to rumors, the OnePlus 9 series will be made up of three devices: OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9E. It is clear that the sensors announced so far will be present in the OnePlus 9 Pro, but we do not know if we will find them also in the standard OnePlus 9. In two weeks we will get rid of doubts.
