What is the operator with the fastest mobile network in the country?
The Speedtest Awards 2020 from Ookla, the platform specialized in diagnosing internet services, determined that the operator in Colombia that offers the fastest mobile network is Tigo, in terms of higher download and upload speeds.
The choice came after 754,191 tests carried out by the same users during the second half of 2020, both on phones with Android operating systems and those with iOS.

The measurement indicated that the company achieved average speeds of 22.04 Mbps, 23.08 Mbps for download, which translates into the time it takes for a content to be seen by the user, and an average upload of 11.91 Mbps, which refers to the publication of files by the person .
The list is followed by Claro, which is in second place, with an average speed of 18.99, then Avantel with 14.86 Mbps, and Movistar, with 13.13 Mbps.

On the other hand, in terms of network latency, which refers to the response time between one connection point and another, the average in Colombia is 45 milliseconds (ms). Claro has an average latency of 49 ms, Movistar 45 ms, Tigo 40 ms and Avantel 31 ms.
Average compared to other countries
The measurement takes into account 18 other countries and reveals that Colombia has among them the third lowest mobile download rate, only surpassing Bangladesh, which has an average of 14.16 Mbps, and Senegal, with 20.96 Mbps.

In the countries of the region included in the study, the country is surpassed by El Salvador, which has 23.77 Mbps, and Peru, with 26.58 Mbps.
The European Union is the one with the best performance, reaching speed scores of 92.55 Mbps, followed by Canada, with 78.98 Mbps, and Saudi Arabia, with 78.21 Mbps.
