The Zeleros hyperloop will be at the Dubai Expo with a six meter capsule
The Zeleros company will bring a six-meter-long capsule of its hyperloop vehicle, which can travel at 1,000 kilometers per hour, to the Dubai Expo, where it will be exhibited from October this year to unveil its fifth mode of transport. , zero direct emissions and all electric.
The realistic model of the hyperloop, a mode of transport of passengers and goods by means of trains through vacuum tubes, has been presented this Thursday at a ceremony at the Museum of Sciences of Valencia, where it will remain until May 2, with the presence of the Minister of Science and Innovation, Pedro Duque, and the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig.
The capsule will be installed in the Spanish Pavilion of the Dubai exhibition, which is structured in three thematic areas (opportunity, mobility and sustainability) and plans to gather more than 200 participants and attract more than 25 million visitors, 70% of them international, according to David Pistoni, co-founder of Zeleros, a company born from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).
The vehicle shows the main technologies of the Zeleros hyperloop transport system, which is scalable by including most of the technologies integrated in it and not in the infrastructure and that can connect cities such as Barcelona and Paris in a matter of minutes, at speeds of up to 1,000 km / h.
With this initiative Zeleros intends to publicize the benefits of this transport system to society, a project that is being developed internationally and has the support of the industrial sector and institutions and that “has a lot to offer in the coming years ”, According to Pistoni.
The Minister of Science, Pedro Duque, has affirmed that the European recovery funds mark among their priorities the transition towards a decarbonized economy, and in this it is the State that usually makes the first investments in new technologies.
“Creating something new that is expensive and risky and new technological developments, such as lunar exploration programs, have occurred because of this funding,” he assured.
Duque, who considers the UPV “almost” as his university for being the first to receive him as an honorary doctorate, has indicated that at a critical moment in history such as the current one, the energy transition must begin “as soon as possible” and there is to take advantage of some effects of the pandemic, such as the greater awareness of society and governments of the value of science in technological developments.
The president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, also highlighted that now, thanks to “the talent and effort that comes from universities and scientific institutes, we have the opportunity to be protagonists” of innovation.
He has recognized that the first time he heard about hyperloop, he thought, because it was so disruptive and in a scenario of “problems in the vicinity”, that “it was something very far away”, but “now we know that in this decade from 20 to 30 it was it will make visible ”.
The international university competition opened by Elon Musk, owner of Tesla, to find the best solutions for this means of transport will take place in its sixth edition this summer in Valencia.
The group of UPV students who set out to solve this challenge a few years ago and who later became Zeleros won the award for the best hyperloop proposal in the United States. Currently this company is one of the six international leaders that is developing the technology.
A team of more than 50 people is part of this project and involves more than 150 in the ecosystem and has more than 10 million of public and private investment (for example from Red Eléctrica, ArcelorMittal or Airbus, and CEDETI) to develop a differential technology that reduces infrastructure costs -which are 95% of this type of product- and the pressures inside are more similar to aviation and safer and easier to certify.
Pistoni stressed that the project is aligned with the decarbonisation objectives of the European Union and Spain has the high-speed infrastructure seal, which “places us in a very privileged position.”
In the Valencian Community, there are two tractor projects, the Valencian Battery Alliance and E-Mobility Hub, and the ecosystem of Marina de Empresas, in which Zeleros works “hand in hand”.
