Mercadona reusable masks: price, effectiveness and number of washes
The reusable Deliplus masks have already arrived at Mercadona. We explain in depth what their characteristics are, how many times they can be washed, the instructions for use and their price.
The Valencian supermarket chain offers different types of masks on its shelves so that consumers have different options to choose from. In addition, as a study by the OCU states, they are not only among the cheapest alternatives, but they are also the best masks that we can buy in the supermarket.
Disposable hygienic masks for adults came first, then children, later FFP2, and now Mercadona’s reusable masks are now available.
Until now, all Deliplus masks were disposable, so the Juan Roig chain had yet to launch reusable masks that consumers can use for longer.
Deliplus reusable masks are made up of three layers and offer good filtration capacity. In its first use, its bacterial filtration is 99.91% and its breathability (Pa / cm2) is 49.5. After 15 washes (the maximum allowed by this mask), its bacterial filtration is 98.10% and its breathability is 49.8 Pa / cm2.
Each use can be worn for a maximum of four hours, after which you have to wash them. For proper cleaning, the mask must be immersed in bleach diluted with warm water (20 ml of bleach per liter of water) for 30 minutes. Then you have to wash it with soap and water and rinse it well to remove the bleach residue.
In the instructions for washing the Deliplus reusable mask, the company specifies that products other than bleach cannot be used, and points out that it cannot be dried or sanitized with a microwave oven. It must be allowed to dry within two hours after washing so that it does not lose its effectiveness.
The price of Mercadona’s reusable masks is 3.25 euros. Sold in packs of five, so the unit costs 65 cents. They are for sale both in physical stores and through the web.
