For almost an hour, since noon this Friday, the billions of users around the world of the app instant messaging WhatsApp and the social network Instagram could not access the services of the platforms that belong to Facebook Inc.
From Twitter, Hundreds of people started reporting problems connecting, receiving and sending messages and updating the feed principal.

Likewise, the specialized platform Downdetector during that hour received reports from more than 30 thousand people who reported failures with WhatsApp. In the case of Instagram, user reports totaled more than 6,000.
Once it became known that the problem was global, a Facebook spokesperson noted: “We are aware that some people have trouble accessing some services in the Facebook family of applications. We are working to get everything back to normal as soon as possible. “

Around 1:10 pm, Colombian time, services were restored on the popular platforms. Hence Facebook said the problems were due to technical failures.
“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing some Facebook services. We resolved this issue and apologize for any inconvenience,” a company spokesperson said.
As THE TIME was able to establish, the problem was registered globally and affected the entire conglomerate and the applications that comprise it.
