Yeedi 2 hybrid, a Chinese robot vacuum cleaner with real-time tracking
Robot vacuum cleaners are increasingly popular in Spanish homes and many users opt for models from China that promise performance at the level of the best with substantially lower prices. yeedi 2 hybrid is one of those examples, a robot that begins to gain a foothold in stores online like Amazon and AliExpress in which, despite not having many evaluations yet, it is surprising that they are all positive. Is it really as good as it sounds?
Two in one
When we approach the yeedi 2 hybrid for the first time we find a neat design, good finishes and a totally uniform exterior in which no element stands out. It is quite slim (it is 7.7 ml high), so it fits very well under sofas, beds and furniture with legs.
At the top two elements stand out: a single button that is used to start it manually or pause the work and a large camera, in charge of mapping the rooms of the home and responsible for the robot to follow an orderly path during cleaning. In reality, practically all of this upper part is a cover that, once opened, reveals a switch that allows the device and the dirt tank to be completely disconnected. If we flip it over, we see an additional deposit. And is that it is also prepared for mopping and scrubbing, and this is where we must incorporate the water.
Cleaning is controlled through an app installed on the mobile phone, which is fully translated into Spanish and stands out for its simplicity and wide possibilities. The first thing is to follow the steps to pair the yeedi 2 hybrid with the smartphone; a very simple and fast process in which we have not experienced any difficulties, taking the precaution of choosing a 2.4 GHz wireless network (it is not compatible with 5G networks).
Real time control
Once inside, we find a interface in which the home map appears and in which it is possible to select automatic cleaning, by rooms or personalized areas, the suction power (it offers three levels), how much water to use when scrubbing … A very interesting feature that not all vacuum cleaners have, not even high-end ones, is that we can see in real time what has already cleaned and what is cleaning, and make manual adjustments at all times.
Before all this, the robot must be used several times in automatic mode so that it can create that map. There is an important limitation: it supports a single floor, so in multi-story homes it will not be possible to use the options related to the selection of cleaning areas only in one of them. On the other hand, informs at all times of the status of the robot components, advising of their durability and when it is necessary to change them: for example, the main brush has a useful life of about 300 hours, the filter of 120 …
Ah! Y is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, making it possible to control its main functions directly with your voice. For example, sending you to clean, pause cleaning, or return the robot to the charging base. Not much more.
And the results?
We have already reviewed its general functions and configuration, but what about its performance? At the level of technical specifications, the yeedi 2 hybrid robot offers a suction power of up to 2500 Pa, an autonomy of up to 200 minutes, a container for dust and fluff with 430 ml capacity, another for 240 ml of water and a noise level of 56 dB.
This translates to several things. It is a fairly silent model, especially at its lowest suction setting. In addition, it moves very quickly around the home and, despite this, it vacuums very well and does not leave traces of dust or hair on the floor beyond the occasional residue in the corners. If we fill the water tank and mount the mop, the robot automatically knows that we want it to scrub as well; It does so without leaving any marks along the route, although it is rather an option whose purpose is to eliminate possible traces of dust rather than scrubbing itself, since it does not end with the most embedded stains.
Its autonomy is enough to clean large homes; In a 90 m2 house, in which the tests have been carried out, it has not needed to return to the base to recharge it at any time. In fact, after his tour he had more than half the battery left. Neither has its dirt tank been filled (it is advisable to empty it after each use) nor has the water run out with the scrubbing function.
Otherwise, climbs well on the carpets (be careful here with having the scrubbing function activated); its sensors detect large walls and furniture well, although worse the chairs and small obstacles (it hits them not too hard and it gets entangled with the cables); and informs by voice messages of the status of the machine (if cleaning has started, has stalled, has finished …).
