What do the ratings in ‘apps’ like Rappi say about a restaurant?
Home platforms have become a solution for thousands of Colombians, either at breakfast, lunch or dinner time.
These apps they have become a direct channel between customers and restaurants. This is the case of Rappi, iFood and Domicilios.com.
The offer of restaurants varies on each platform, but what is certain is that there are many establishments that can be accessed through these apps.

Surely it has happened to you that you do not know what to order, or you even want to try a new restaurant but perhaps you do not dare to order because you do not want to have a bad experience, because it is a place that you know very little about.

How can a high rating favor a restaurant? First, more customers will trust you to have a good experience. What’s more, Home platforms reward places that have been recognized by customers for offering good services and experiences in some different way.
But how do these reviews work? After each address and / or service, the platforms invite the user to rate and comment on their experience. Each app has its own way of including, highlighting and / or displaying these ratings.
In the case of Rappi, when a user selects the ‘Restaurants’ option, they access a list of establishments that have many items, in addition to each available restaurant.

You can see the category of the restaurant, the estimated time for the arrival of the order, the price of the delivery service and a star with a number to its right. That number is an average of the ratings from 1 to 5 given by customers who have ever ordered at that restaurant.
There is also a restaurant section where only those places that have a rating of more than 4.6 stars are highlighted.
There is also a score of 1 to 3 (3 is the maximum rating) that Rappi makes in which it classifies the service of those places that the platform considers should be recognized. This assessment is based on the following indicators: punctuality in delivery times, compliance with office hours, popularity among customers and low rate of orders with error.
So some restaurants will appear with a label that has a small trophy with a number on it. Depending on the rating made by the platform, the restaurant can have one of these three labels:
3: Excellent service.
2: Very good service.
1: Good service.
Domicilios.com, like Rappi, has a star rating from 1 to 5 among its restaurant labels. That score is displayed in the main catalog.
In this case, in addition to the number, the labels are of different colors: If a restaurant has a rating of 0 to 3.5 stars, the number is highlighted by an orange color. If it has a rating of 3.5 to 5 stars, the number will be highlighted by a green color that grows in intensity if the rating increases.

When selecting a specific restaurant, the platform expands the details on user ratings. Three categories appear, each with a different rating.
The user who wants to give his assessment must rate his experience with the speed of the order, the quality of the food and that of the service.
In addition, it appears how many users have rated the restaurant and there is a comments and opinions section that anyone can see. This can be a deciding factor for many who read an item that cannot be rated with stars and believe that it can define the decision of ordering or not in a restaurant. This platform also has the option of filtering the restaurants and showing those with the best rating.
iFood also has a star rating system. As in the others apps It ranges from 1 to 5, with 5 being the best ‘grade’ that users can deliver.
Next to each rating there is also a number in parentheses that indicates how many people have rated the restaurant.
This platform also has the ability to filter restaurants and access a list of those that customers have rated the best.
