Google dedicates today’s Doodle to Montserrat Caballé for her 89th anniversary
Today’s Google Doodle is a striking tribute to Montserrat Caballé, a Spanish opera singer, for her 89th birthday. She is considered one of the greatest sopranos of the 20th century.
When you go to Google, sometimes you find some image or gif to replace the well-known company logo. Sometimes we only find variations of the color, the letters or you can even play a small video game without leaving the main screen.
This altered logo is a Doodle and every famous figure that is really important worldwide for some reason has their own: Charles Chaplin, Marie Curie, George Méliès… or very significant days like Breast Cancer Day, or Earth Day , for example.
Well, Google has decided dedicate your Doodle today to one of the great figures of lyrical music in Spain: Montserrat Caballe.
In this we can see the singer with a floral dress, covered with rose petals. In keeping with the fact that it is a Google homepage logo, the company name is written, behind the powerful figure of the artist, forming the central “oog” of Google.
Caballé was born on this day in 1933 in Barcelona, Spain. From a very young age she felt a passion for poetry until he managed to make his debut as a professional opera singer in 1956, no more and no less, as an understudy in a production of Puccini’s La bohème. In the following decade, his popularity grew steadily throughout Europe.
However, the decisive moment for Caballé was when he was given the opportunity to participate in a performance of Lucrezia Borgia in 1965 at Carnegie Hall in New York. Here he knew that there was no turning back and acquired great world fame.
One of the most mythical moments of Caballé and for which younger people began to recognize her was for her performance with Freddie Mercury, of Queen. Both of them they sang, in 1987, the mythical song Barcelonawhich would serve as an anthem for the 1992 Olympics, in the city of Barcelona.
With a long and successful life, the singer finally passed away on October 6, 2018.
