A Clandestine horse slaughterhouse was dismantled this weekend in La Matanza and, after an investigation by the police of the Province of Buenos Aires, it was determined that equine cuts were sold in butcher shops in the area as minced meat to make burgers.
In the early hours of Saturday, officers from the Buenos Aires province had observed suspicious movements in a home in La Matanza by five men who were taking out consortium bags to the sidewalk of a house. When the agents asked for their identification, they fled.
Upon entering the house, from where a nauseating smell came, they found butchered horses, viscera scattered in bins and tools for slaughtering animals.
According to what was published on the networks by the Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (CRRE), which collaborated in the investigation, the horses were slaughtered with a pick and then quartered. Later they were marketed in the butcher shops of the area as hamburgers, minced meat and other derivatives.
