Dusseldorf Is it the striking design? On better rust protection? Love for mechanics? Many factors are likely to play a role in explaining the desire of many people to own a classic car. Because the oldies are in demand, more and more are bustling on the streets – which is reflected in high prices. It doesn’t even have to be an old Ferrari. Old Mercedes models and the VW Beetle lead the hit list of the most coveted classic cars.

So much for old iron: Within a good two decades, the prices for classic cars have almost tripled. However, the differences are huge – they range from a few thousand euros to several million.

The top 5 most sought-after classic cars have either a Mercedes star or the VW logo on the hood. This is certainly related to the (still) manageable prices: a Bugatti from the 1930s is much more expensive.
