A cell phone hidden under a tile, 50,000 dollars, 8,500,000 pesos, kilos of yerba mate, powdered milk and coffee. That was the result of 25 raids ordered by the Justice to determine if leaders of the Classist and Combative Current (CCC) they extorted beneficiaries of social plans and unduly marketed food. The seized material is under investigation by the federal judge of San Martín Alice wins.

The judicial file is not new: it is three years old and was initiated during the administration of Let’s change as a result of a complaint received by the Ministry of Social Development of the Nation from a group of beneficiaries of social plans who claimed to be being extorted by leaders of the Classist and Combative Current (CCC).

The raids were carried out by the Federal police in different private homes in the suburbs of Buenos Aires and in the City. In the private homes of leaders in the San Martín and La Matanza areas, 50,000 dollars in cash and 8,500,000 pesos. A warehouse was also raided in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Retiro, where food was seized that, according to one of the hypotheses, was marketed by the CCC.

“We are seeking to know the traceability of the products. They were first manufactured by companies that sold them to the Ministry of Social Development. But we have to know how they were delivered to social organizations and why they were marketed”, said a source involved in the case to THE NATION. In addition to the raids, there are interventions on the communications of the people whose homes were raided, although there are no “specific defendants”, the sources consulted admitted.

Of all the cell phones that were seized in the procedures carried out by the Federal Police, one causes special interest in the investigators: the one that was hidden under a tile. The Police searched for him for several hours, as a result of which one of the people involved expressed concern during the raid because they found the device.

Near Alderete, they said, when asked by THE NATION, that the $50,000 in cash “was a colleague’s life savings.” “The pesos that were seized there are part of the contributions of the compañeros and compañeras from all over the country for the organization. The CCC is a self-financing organization. Each partner contributes voluntarily to support the movement,” says the statement released by the organization regarding the more than 8 million pesos seized in the operation. And he questions the progress of this cause: “Why, instead of investigating a popular organization that sticks its feet in the mud to face the crisis, don’t they investigate those who fled the IMF loan?”

Despite the results of the raids, in which large amounts of cash were seized, President Alberto Fernández received last Wednesday the national deputy and leader of the CCC Juan Carlos Alderete and a group of referents from social organizations, and questioned the progress of the case. “I am greatly concerned about the raids on dining rooms and picnic areas. I do not endorse the judicial persecution of the political and social leadership”, reported the president. Alderete also referred to the progress of this case and said: “Macrista justice wants to put us in jail.”

Why did the cause not have movements before? According to this medium, the file was delegated to the prosecutor George Sika, that never triggered test measures. The court of San Martin He resumed that case in December and last week ordered the raids.
