Goals yes, books no; the spokeswoman, responsibility

The Minister of Education, Jaime Perczyk, proposes that the World Cup matches be seen in schools. He alludes to “issues of ethical training, natural and social sciences”. Is he not aware that those days at full football, practically an entire month, will be more days added to the many that were lost with the long quarantine due to the pandemic and with the usual teacher strikes? The result is the poor results of the tests of learning level of the students of primary school. However, the minister prefers to appeal to this form of demagoguery that will give one more push to the brutalization of thousands of boys and girls who, without the necessary ability to aspire to a decent job, will join the legions of picketers subsidized by the bankrupt Argentine state. If at any time we thought that something could improve with the change of head in this portfolio that is so important for the present and future of Argentina, let us recognize that unfortunately we were wrong.

Every day we attend a ridiculous and grotesque spectacle. It is the meeting that, for the purpose of informing, is held between the presidential spokeswoman, Gabriela Cerruti, and representatives of the media. Needless to say, it should be developed within parameters consistent with those that a republican conception merits. Far from it, who should inform and respond with dignity to the questions that are put to him, does so repeatedly with an arrogance and arrogance that is not consistent with the manners that he would have to observe for such a delicate function. What should be a colloquium of questions and answers of public utility has been transformed into a sad spectacle in which the spokeswoman expresses her displeasure at any question that, at her arbitrary discretion, annoys her. In this way, she totally distorts the reasons for her function. In addition to not fulfilling it efficiently, she expresses her personal displeasure, with the intemperance typical of someone who lacks arguments.

As happened in 2011, the national government insists on cutting subsidies for electricity and gas consumption. These subsidies were not requested by the consumer, they were established by the government itself because it knows well that without a subsidy, electricity and gas bills are uncollectible. The Government now proposes to the owner of the service to complete a sworn statement to confront the veracity of the data in Anses, AFIP, Property Registry, etc., in order to determine whether it is appropriate to subsidize it or not. This precaution should have been taken by the Government before granting the subsidies instead of doing it now, thus transferring its responsibility to the user.

The government spokeswoman has said that she does not understand why the press gives publicity to the blue dollar, since it is illegal. It must be said that denying reality is living in a thermos, as Grabois told President Fernández. Official dollars are scarce, production is paralyzed, as are imports. There is no diesel, the field is stopped, and now the novelty: the increase in the advance of the income tax of 45% on the official dollar; all instead of generating a plan that allows them to reach December 2023 with some respite, which, yes – and paraphrasing Aníbal Fernández– is magic.

What happened to our compatriot in Santa Cruz, Bolivia is outrageous. The lack of medical care for not having Bolivian currency meant that he was not treated in a hospital and he died without giving him any chance of surviving.

Working Bolivians who came to Argentina are welcome, but I propose that all plans be eliminated for those who do not work, among whom are many residents of Bolivian towns near the border. The report of a Bolivian deputy crossing the border to collect a plan was public. The Sardá maternity is full of women of that nationality who come on a medical tour by bus to have their delivery in Argentina, totally free, and almost immediately have a universal allowance awarded for their Argentine son.

Are we so weak that they abuse us like this?

Argentina, together with the other countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, signed the Treaty of Tlatelolco in 1967, on the prohibition of nuclear weapons in the region. The National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), in its extensive history, has promoted and encouraged the use of radioactive materials for peaceful purposes, within the Atoms for Peace Program. Within this framework, numerous research projects and the use of radioisotopes in medicine, veterinary medicine, agriculture, the food industry, metallurgy, etc., as well as the construction of nuclear power plants, were developed. Likewise, our country has three atomic centers, nuclear technology institutes for the training of professionals and technicians, several laboratories, such as the nanomedicine and the Proton Therapy Center, and Regional Delegations for mining resources of nuclear interest. The CNEA, the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARN) and NASA-Nucleoelectrica Argentina SA (NASA) are the three official nuclear institutions that make up a technological trio with international projection. In a recent report, Dr. Noé Altschuler, a former CNEA researcher, makes a detailed study of the damage caused by radiation in humans when they are exposed by nuclear episodes or accidents (acute radiation syndrome). With regard to this report, we want to reflect on what would happen in the face of the possibility of a third nuclear war, which some, like Pope Francis, predict could happen and which puts humanity on edge due to the danger of the use of nuclear weapons. If this were to happen, the consequences would be unimaginable and the effects of radiation would make human life impossible.

The undersigned, former CNEA researchers, having worked for several decades in the application of nuclear techniques for peaceful purposes, are faced with the moral obligation to alert public opinion, but especially through the International Atomic Energy Agency ( IAEA), to the leaders of the powers in conflict, about the danger that the use of nuclear weapons would imply, making it very clear what our position is as a country aligned with the Atoms for Peace Program and the Treaty of Tlatelolco.

We Argentines, together with the rest of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, are proud to belong to a bloc identified with the idea of nuclear disarmament and with a vocation for peace. This does not mean neglecting world events, their repercussions and the consequences they may bring. We live in a globalized world and, therefore, all events have an influence, even in the most remote places. We wish to extend our commitment and thought to be able to share it with all the inhabitants who yearn to preserve life and peace on the planet.

Noé Altschuler, Silvio Kremenchusky, Fernando Miranda, Catalina Signoretta

The Armed Forces are the last resource for the survival of the State (look at Ukraine); however, the policy that has been carried out towards them would seem to have the purpose of degrading them, eliminating them. Its members, lacking adequate means of training and very low remuneration in relation to their intellectual, physical and psychological capacities, change their careers, not without pain, in search of better opportunities. It is urgent to take measures to reaffirm the specificity of the military function and return to its members the pride of belonging. It is essential to improve the very low salaries in relation to those of other civil servants, including the security forces, whose salaries increased much more than those of the military, in whom the professional subjection is greater; its particular laws constrain it. Only three State jobs require approval from the Senate, superior officers, judges and ambassadors, this means that they are at the same level, the same category; notwithstanding this, the wage differences between the latter and the former are abysmal; they should be equated.
